Hurlyburly: The Director
James J. Christy
Jim Christy is delighted to be mking his directorial debut with New City Stage Company. Recent productions include the Barrymore-nominated productions of The Outgoing Tide at Philadelphia Theatre Company Rabbit Hole at the Arden Theatre in Philadelphia, as well as Twelfth Night at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival and King Lear at the Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre. In 2005 he was honored with the Philadelphia Theatre Alliance's Lifetime Achievement Award, a real highlight of his longtime career as a director and educator in Philadelphia. His productions for Villanova, the Arden, and the Philadelphia Theatre Company and others have won numerous Barrymore awards including two wins for Outstanding Direction: The Laramie Project at Philadelphia Theatre Company and Angels in America, Part II: Perestroika at Villanova Theatre (co-directed with Harriet Power). He is a Professor Emeritus from Villanova University where he taught theatre for 39 years. He looks forward to more directing, travel, and good times with his wonderful wife, Franny, and their fabulous kids, and grandkids.
